Newsletter

Dear MAAC Member,

We hope everyone enjoyed our November Show. Paid attendance for the weekend was about 2,000 and 350 tables were sold.

MAAC would like to express condolences to Jan Pilchak and family for the recent loss of Jim Pilchak, a long standing MAAC member. Jim will be greatly missed both as a collector and as a friend.

MAAC would like to thank Mr. Dale Kuche for his Marine Corp. display "The Early Marine Corp from 1812 through WWI and Beyond" with an emphasis on John Philip Sousa and the Marine Corp Band. Dale had several uniforms from each period and over 50 different hats on display. I hope you were able to view this outstanding exhibit as it might be Dale's last display for MAAC. He is planning on photographing the complete collection and publishing it in book form in the near future. We would also like to thank Mr. Dan Kurkowski for his display "Remington Shotguns - First in the Field and Out of the Field for Game or Games". This is the second consecutive show that Dan has displayed Remington guns from his vast collection. Please look forward to future shows for additional Remington displays from Dan, as I know he already has more in the planning. If you get a moment I'm sure Dale and Dan would appreciate your comments about their fine displays. Well done gentlemen!

Board Notes:

  • We will be running an election to fill vacancies on our Board of Directors. The board has decided to have the election at the 2012 April Show. We are doing this to alert the membership that the election will not be by mailing, but by ballot at our April Show. This will provide a mailing cost savings for the membership of $1,200. OCGA and Maumee run their elections in the same fashion. You must be a member in good standing (paid up membership) to vote at this show. Your name will be checked off from the membership list, and you will be issued a ballot for voting. The candidates and their resumes will be listed on the ballot. Thank you for your understanding and support.
  • We are looking for future displays for upcoming MAAC shows. Please consider sharing your collections and knowledge with the membership and public. We know many of you have hidden treasures that have not been displayed before. Contact Gary Christmann if interested. All display tables for your exhibit will be at no cost to you.
  • Contact Greg with questions about future shows or mailings. Greg has requested that you mail back the complete table reservation form. Do not cut it down!!
  • Don't forget membership dues and table fees need to be on separate checks.
  • Future table reservations will be made after 2:30 on Sunday only.
  • Do not request tables in the front of the show if you are a Saturday only table holder.
  • Please wear I.D. badges at all times.
  • Do not ask for extra helper badges in addition to those permitted by the Show Manager.
  • Refer to our website www.michiganantiquearms.com for updated club info, table and membership renewal forms.

Thank you for supporting our shows and MAAC. Its members like you that make our club great!! See you in February!! Happy Holidays!!!
